Heards Ferry is so excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month September 15th – October 15th!
A few things we are doing to recognize the importance of this month… When you walk through our lobby, you will see the flags on display of Spanish Speaking countries! Research on famous Hispanic individuals will be on display on the bulletin board across from our clinic. Thank you to the wonderful Mrs. Murdock for leading this effort! Twice a week, students who exhibited excellent work ethic and research skills in Spanish, will be chosen to share their research on Heards Ferry Live! Chef Reggie will be serving a lunch once a week with a Hispanic flair and will share his menu selection on Heards Ferry Live! Finally, to conclude our month of celebrating the Hispanic heritage, the fabulous Eagle Alliance is providing a school wide assembly of an incredible performance by a Mariachi band! We are SO excited and appreciative of our Eagle Alliance for providing this experience for our children! Thank you, EA! Please make sure you send your child to school decked out in our team colors. We are the GREEN team! We will have our FIRST Pep Rally of the year on Friday.
HFE Helping Hand members are 4th grade students who are leaders in our school. Their responsibilities include working with and assisting the Pre-K, Kindergarten and Special Needs teachers in their classrooms.
Please complete the online application by Friday, August 30th. Late applications will not be accepted. We had a great first week of school! I loved getting to know all of your sweet children. I am so excited about this class and this school year. I know it is going to be an incredible one. Thank you so much for all you who emailed me about your kiddo. I LOVED reading all the emails and getting the “inside scoop.”
The kids did an amazing job on their All About Me Presentation. They all loved using the Apple TV to throw their presentation on the board. We had so many different and creative ways students choose to present. Thank you for your patience as students learned how to use many of these tools. We are still working on routines and procedures this week as well as starting the 4th grade curriculum. Students will have homework every night. They must always read for at least 20 minutes and fill out their reading log to be signed by an adult. The reading log is due at the end of every month. Students should be bringing this home nightly in their accordion folder. They will also almost always have math homework. I assign it daily and it is due the next school day. On average, homework should take about 40 minutes total to complete. I will go over more about this at Curriculum Night. |
